Finding someone with business experience

I build websites and I have a degree in computer studies! Great, but do you even understand anything about running a business? Do you realise that life is not about a piece of paper that says you can use Wordpress? Or even the fact you may have a big techy business maybe, but know very little about the real business world around you.

When we first started in business, the country was just coming out of what we called a depression. Now 30 years later, the world is in a bit of a state, yet we keep on going because we understand how business works.

Business Checklist

Have you already got a business?
If you already have your own business, what so far have you done to make it work? It may be that you work damn hard and you have a website or advertising program that simply is not cutting the mustard. You don't need to invest thousands of pounds into your advertising or a website, but you do need someone that understands how websites work, and how to get the best from them. When you consider there are millions of websites, you need your website to show up somewhere - preferably near the top of the search engines.
Are you just thinking of starting up a business?
I've run my own business for 30 years plus now, and let me tell you, there are advantages and disadvantages to running your own business. Running your own business (or starting one) demands that you willing to work hard.
If you have a business, how dedicated are you to it?
If you're not prepared to put in long days every week, then really why should we? It's your business, but if you are thinking "build it and they will come" then you are sadly mistaken. You need to discipline yourself, and be prepared to work hard (well at least in the early years) of your business venture.
Do you want to succeed or would you prefer to do as little as possible?
If you wish to do as little as possible, then maybe consider the unemployment business where you can sit down and wait for a hand out. In your own business you need to be prepared to screw over your own mother to get somewhere (of course that is a joke), but you get the point!
